2008 King Valley Art Show Judge

Robert Maclaurin originally came to Australia on a Menzies fellowship, painting at The Dunmoochin Foundation studio at Cottlesbridge, Victoria. He was trained at Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland and has worked as a career artist ever since. Robert moved from Edinburgh, Scotland to work full-time in central Victoria in 2001, becoming an Australian citizen in 2005.

Maclaurin has had many successful solo exhibitions over the past two decades. He has gallery representation in London, Edinburgh and Melbourne. His work is included in many major British art collections, including The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, The Fleming/Wyfold Art Foundation(London), The Contemporary Art Society(London), HM Queen's Collection and The Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

The artist has won many prizes for his paintings including first prize in The Noble Grossart Scottish Painting Prize and first prize In The John Farrell Castlemaine Art Gallery and Museum Portrait Award in 2006.

Now with work in Australian collections, Maclaurin continues to exhibit both nationally and overseas.
