2011 Judge
Philip Davey was born in Devon, England and emigrated to Australia with his family at the age of 8 years. He holds a Bachelor of Education and taught in secondary schools for approximately 15 years. Davey has been a full-time artist since the early 90s and describes himself as self-taught in the company of other artists.
Davey has a strong exhibition history in Victoria, NSW and South Australia including Australian Galleries and Eastgate & Holst in Melbourne. His work is included in many private and public collections, including Castlemaine, Benalla and Geelong Regional Art Galleries, Parliament House (Canberra) and Billiton-BHP.
Davey is known for his paintings of a wide range of subject matter – landscapes, cityscapes and maritime subjects, and has contributed to the tradition of en plein air painting. More recently, Davey has exhibited ceramics and prints.
